It all began with sunscreen.
I was 11 years old, living in a tropical climate and minding my own business when suddenly I started getting these freckles all over my face. Living in a country obsessed with fairness, I was immediately rushed to a dermatologist. The remedy? Sunscreen.

And that’s how my journey into the world of beauty began. With sunscreen.
When everyone around me wasn’t using any, here I was, liberally smoothening it all over my skin. I looked ghostly white and greasy (this was way, way back when sunscreens hadn’t really evolved to what they are today). Kids in class made fun of me but I used to think, “Wait till we turn 40. We’ll see who has the last laugh.”

As luck would have it, I didn’t have to wait too long. In my early 20’s I was approached by a beauty brand to model for their skincare range. And so, my face graced billboards and television screens. Revenge was indeed sweet.

But it didn’t end there. By now, I was obsessed with beauty. And luck was again on my side. As a copywriter for a leading ad agency, I was asked to handle a beauty brand. But not just any beauty brand – one of the world’s most celebrated ones. So now, I was writing scripts and even directing ads. I got a chance to meet some of the most beautiful women in the world, meet experts – dermatologists, makeup artists, hair stylists and of course, try out tons and tons of products. I was in a beauty wonderland.

And now, 12 years after being a part of this amazing world, I invite you to be a part of it too. Welcome to The Beauty Wonderland.

love, delara2

When she is not busy punching the keyboard, she is either in front of a mirror, lounging by the pool or changing her baby’s dirty diapers – all while chugging down cups and cups of Earl Grey tea.
