When you think about a Korean Skincare Routines, you think about painstakingly layering on 10 skincare products. Not anymore!
The latest Korean Skin Trend is all about minimalism. Less is more.
It’s called Skip Care because now you can skip a lot of steps!
So now, you can get that awesome glow in as little as 4-5 steps. Woohoo!
But how? By using multi-tasking products. Products that do 2 or more things in one step. Simple.
Here’s the routine.
1. Cleanser that removes, cleans and tones.
Forget the double cleansing method and invest in a cleanser that does it all in one step – removes dirt, sunscreen and makeup. In fact, you can even ditch your toner if your cleanser does that for you!
Stuff I ❤️: I cannot sing enough praises for Bioderma Sensibio H2O. I’ve emptied more bottles of this than I can count. It removes every trace of dirt, grime and even the stubbornest of waterproof makeup.
Just remember, you need to use atleast 3 soaked cotton pads to remove everything. One is not enough. Keep swiping your face till everything comes off. Then rinse. The thing I love best about this product is that it’s meant for really sensitive skin. So I never have to worry about breakouts.
2. Serum that works hard.
Serums are the work horses of any routine. They are the ones that have the most potent ingredients, which is why they give the best results.
It’s best to use a serum that gives you more than one benefit. I’m partial to serums that give me a glow AND also prevent aging. Which is why I always pick Vitamin C serums – they fade spots and pigmentation, while also building collagen. Win win.
Stuff I ❤️: Not all Vitamin C serums are made equal. Serums that contain L-Ascorbic Acid in concentrations of above 10% will get you better results. My 2 fav serums have to be Clinique Fresh Pressed Daily Booster with Pure Vitamin C 10% and Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum. The minute they go on my skin, I can see an immediate difference. My skin is plumper, brighter and tighter. Couldn’t ask for more.
3. Moisturiser that soothes and hydrates.
No matter what your skin type, you need a moisturizer. Moisturizer is like a glass of water for your skin. Without it, your skin will suffer.
Apart from hydrating your skin, a moisturizer that soothes it is a real winner. After all, your skin goes through so much during the day – pollution, sun, wind, dirt, makeup… It needs some tender loving care.
Pick a moisturizer that contains both hydrating and soothing benefits. Look for ingredients like hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, aloe vera, centella, chamomile and cucumber.
Stuff I ❤️: Moisture Surge 72-Hour Auto-Replenishing Hydrator is my go-to product. It does an awesome job of hydrating my skin, without any greasiness. Plus, it soothes my hot, angry skin thanks to the aloe vera. Within seconds of applying it, my skin feels relaxed, calm and happy.
4. Sunscreen that protects and primes.
Bye bye old-school, sticky sunscreens. Say hello to sunscreens that not only protect against those annoying UV rays, but also leave your skin with a smooth, velvety finish – the perfect canvas for makeup (if you need it).
Stuff I ❤️: Neutrogena UltraSheer Dry Touch Sunscreen has been on my shelf for more than 10 years now. It gives me the protection I need, without leaving my skin all tacky and white.
5. Weekend skincare: Exfoliator and Mask.
Add 2 extra steps on the weekend to get more out of your routine and reach your skin goals faster.
Step 1: Exfoliator.
An exfoliating toner or scrub gently removes all the dead skin that has built up during the week. It is essential to keep your skin clear and glowy.
Stuff I ❤️: My latest craze has been Pixi Glow Tonic. It seriously makes my skin smoother and more glowy in seconds. It’s like Magic.
Step 2: Mask.
A face mask (that matches your skin type) helps solve your skin issues quickly enough for you to see almost immediate results.
I make my own face mask with multani mitti, sandalwood powder and rosewater. It unclogs my pores and adds a subtle glow. Love!
