Does Vitamin C really brighten, lighten and tighten your skin?

Does Vitamin C really brighten, lighten and tighten your skin?

Here’s everything you ever wanted to know about Vitamin C.

When I was a little girl, my mom used to squeeze lemon juice over a cut apple to prevent it from turning dark and rotting.

Guess what? It works on your skin the same way too!

No, please DON’T actually apply lemon juice over your skin. It’s too harsh and can cause lots of irritation. But it’s the Vitamin C in the lemon juice that your skin really needs. And the best (and safest) way to get that is in the form of a serum.

Here’s what Vitamin C really does for your skin:

 1. It evens out your skin tone.

Remember the apple and lime juice example? That simply shows that Vitamin C has the amazing ability to reduce discolouration. So if your skin tends to get patchy, a good Vitamin C serum is what you need.

 2. It fades dark spots, acne marks and pigmentation.

Vitamin C acts as an exfoliant. So it literally brushes off discoloured skin!

But before you get all excited, remember it takes time. A few months of religious use should do the trick.

What’s more amazing? Vitamin C can interrupt your skin’s melanin production. This means that it can prevent dark spots and pigmentation from happening in the first place! Brilliant! (pun intended)

 3. It protects your skin from sun damage.

Vitamin C is a super antioxidant that helps strengthen skin and prevents it from getting damaged. Which is why, you should apply your Vitamin C serum under your sunscreen. Your skin won’t be able to thank you enough.

 4. It reduces Under-Eye Circles

By now you know that Vitamin C is a Kung-Fu fighter whose main aim is to destroy skin discolourations. And that applies to under-eye circles too. Use a serum or eye cream with Vitamin C to say good-bye to panda eyes. Hai-yaaaaaa!!!

5. It heals acne

Vitamin C reduces inflammation and repairs damaged skin. This basically means that if you use it every day, your pimples will be smaller, not so red, will heal faster and not leave any long-term marks!

 6. It delays aging.

Vitamin C is also an awesome anti-aging ingredient (Seriously, what can’t it do?).
What makes it so special is that it helps boost collagen production. More collagen means less fine lines and wrinkles! It’s that simple.

Stuff I ❤️: My 2 absolute favourite Vitamin C serums are Skinceuticals C E Ferulic and Clinique Fresh Pressed Daily Booster with Pure Vitamin C 10%. They are both ridiculously expensive, but I believe in investing in my skin so I’m guilt-free (well, kinda)!
