It’s like freshly squeezed orange juice for your skin.
I bought it because I liked the name. Fresh Pressed. How cute!
I’m a real sucker for these kind of things.
And the packaging… Again cute!
It contains 4 individually packed little tubes. Each tube is supposed to last for 1 week. You gotta press the bottom of the tube to ‘crack open’ the Vitamin C powder into the serum and then shake it to activate it.
Now this makes sense. You see, Vitamin C is crazy. It’s really unstable and starts deteriorating as soon as you expose it to oxygen – this means that as soon as you open the product, it begins to reduce in potency. But with its tiny 1-week-only packaging, Clinique found a cool way to keep the product ‘fresh’ and effective.
Despite all these cool tricks, I was not expecting THAT much from the product. I mean, my skin was already bright and even courtesy of using Skinceuticals C E Ferulic (the holy grail of Vitamin C serums touted by every beauty expert worth his or her salt) for more than a year.
But I wanted to give this a try because:
- The name (as I mentioned earlier, I’m a sucker for cute puns)
- It was cheaper than Skinceuticals C E Ferulic and I was looking for an alternative.
So I took it out of the packaging, pressed the powder into the serum, shook it well and then applied 2 pumps worth of serum on my skin. It felt good. Really good.
Cut to 1 week later. I called my mom and told her to buy it!!!
I was unexpectedly impressed (I love it when that happens!). This product manages to give Skinceuticals C E Ferulic some serious competition! And that’s not an easy feat.
To see that I was not over-reacting and this stuff was actually as good as I thought it was, I made my husband try it. We have different skin types so I wanted his POV as this is supposed to work on all skin types. At first, he thought it was ok. A bit gimmicky. BUT a dark spot that had been lingering on his forehead for a couple of weeks started to fade real quick! So it was definitely better than just OK.
The only bummer is that you have to finish each small tube within a week to make sure the serum maintains its potency. If I was using it alone, it would definitely take more than a week to finish, but since we are both sharing it, it’s perfect.
Important: It’s super important to use sunscreen (with SPF 30 or more) after using this in the morning. If you don’t plan on using a sunscreen (though you really really should), please DON’T use this product. While Vitamin C serums are good for repairing sun damage, they will make your skin much more sensitive to the sun. So you could get a sun burn!
My Verdict:It’s a wonderful Vitamin C serum that brightens, evens out your skin tone and fades dark spots. It’s pretty expensive but then again, I believe in investing in my skin so that it stays younger for longer.
