Don’t let Holi ruin your skin!

How to protect your skin from getting damaged this Holi

How to protect your skin from getting damaged this Holi.

BEFORE

Waterproof sunscreen can save your skin.

Ultimate Sun Protection Lotion WetForce for Sensitive Skin and Children SPF 50+

A waterproof, physical sunscreen (the ones that leave a white cast on your skin) acts as a ‘barrier’ that sits on top your skin and prevents things from entering. So the harsh colours will stay on top and won’t penetrate into your skin. Another plus, you won’t get a tan!

Tip: Don’t forget to apply it on your ears.

Stuff I ♥: Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Lotion WetForce  is my go-to product. It glides beautifully over my skin and stays put no matter how much water touches my skin.

Apply coconut oil all over your body and hair.

Kama Ayurveda Extra Virgin Organic Coconut Oil for hair and skin

Before you step out to play Holi, make sure that you apply oil from head to toe. The oil acts like a barrier between your skin and the harsh colours. It also makes it super easy to remove the colours afterwards.

Stuff I ♥: Kama Ayurveda Extra Virgin Organic Coconut Oil does a great job coating my hair and body. It’s super moisturising so I don’t end up all dry afterwards.

Protect your lips with petroleum jelly.

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream

Apply a thick layer of petroleum jelly on your lips to prevent the colours from penetrating your lips.

Stuff I ♥: Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream is the bomb! It’s thick, but not sticky – so it does a fab job in keeping the colour out!

AFTER

Remove colour with a makeup remover

Micellar water before bed

A makeup remover or cleansing oil does a much better job of removing the colour than regular soap and water. And it’s also more gentle on your skin.

Stuff I ♥: I can not sing enough praises about Bioderma Sensibio H2O. It removes the harshest of colour in the gentlest way possible!

Use a mud or clay mask

Pahadi Local Markalak Clay Mask

Mud, clay or charcoal masks remove toxins, cleans your pores, soothes and brightens your skin. It’s the perfect detox for your skin.

Stuff I ♥: Pahadi Local Markalak really calms my skin down. It adds back all the minerals the harsh colours sucked out.

Apply moisturizer.

Forest Essentials Light Hydrating Facial Gel Pure Rosewater is perfect for the day

Whatever you do, don’t skip this step. Your skin needs to be properly moisturized so that it can rest and heal. Pick a moisturiser that contains hyaluronic acid as it really gives skin a boost of hydration – without being greasy.

Stuff I ♥: Forest Essentials Light Hydrating Facial Gel Pure Rosewater is super soothing, cooling and refreshing. Perfect after playing Holi.
