The Korean 7 Toner Method will give you the plumpest, dewiest, bounciest skin ever!

The 7 ‘SKIN’ Method is Korea’s hottest beauty rage. And here’s why you should try it!

MAIN

What the heck is the 7 Skin Method?

It is a really peculiar skincare regimen.
You need to apply 7 layers of the same toner – in quick succession!
And then ‘lock it all in’ with a moisturizer (if you have oily skin, you can skip this step).

It’s called the 7 “SKIN” Method because in Korean, ‘skin’ and ‘toner’ are the exact same word!

OMG! But why?

The idea is to boost your skin’s hydration and balance moisture levels.
You see, toner is much lighter than other skincare products. So your skin gets all the moisture, but without that horrible thick, greasy feeling.

When your skin is properly hydrated, it does its job well. Your tone and texture improves. Spots and pigmentation heal. Fine lines plump up… What’s there not to love?

Hmmm…but will it work for my skin?

Most skin types benefit! That’s the beauty of it.
It totally depends on the toner you use.
(However, if you have sensitive skin, I would give this a miss.)

Dry Skin:
If your skin is dry, use a toner that’s really hydrating.
Your skin will get a jolt of moisture. By the time you’re done applying the toner 7 times, it will be all plump and dewy. But it’s best to ‘lock-in’ all the moisture by ending with a moisturizer.

Oily/Combination Skin:
This method is especially beneficial for you! Skin tends to get oily when it’s dehydrated. Because there’s less water in your skin, it starts producing more oil to make up for the loss of moisture. When you amp up the moisture levels in your skin, the oil production slows down. Yay!

Normal Skin:
You have nothing to lose and lots (of moisture) to gain. Your skin is already in great condition. Giving it a shot of moisture will make sure it stays that way.

Which toner should I use?

Because you’re using the same toner repeatedly, it’s very important to find one that’s right for your skin.

First things first, check the ingredient list. Look for ingredients like aloe, rosewater, neem, green tea, cucumber, chamomile or Vitamin C.

Or you can go all natural.
Pure coconut water is a brilliant hydrating toner. Just use it straight from the coconut!
Green tea is amazing for acne-prone skin. Brew a cup, let it cool and apply!
Rosewater is my personal favourite.

IMPORTANT: Stay far far far away from toners with alcohol or acids, as they will dry out the skin or cause tons of irritation when layered.

How do I use the toner?

Pour it in your palm and pat on your skin – just like a guy would apply aftershave.
But keep patting, until the toner is completely absorbed. Now do it again. And again.

Does it really work?

My skin after 1 week of consistently doing the 7 Skin Method.

When I heard of the 7 Skin Method, my first thought was, “Will it really work?”
So I just had to try it to see for myself (and let you guys know, of course)!

I tried it at night and I have to say, I got a bit bored. It’s the same thing on repeat.
But by the time I finished the process, my skin felt incredibly plump. Like seriously juicy!
The strange thing is that it my skin tingled a bit thanks to all the patting to get the toner into the skin. It’s like that feeling you get when you’ve had a massage.

When I woke up the next morning, I rushed to the mirror to see the effect. My skin felt just like it always does. But I know that changes don’t happen overnight. As long as there were no breakouts, I’m good.

I did the same routine in the morning too. And ended it with a sunscreen. Once again, my skin felt incredible. Like a water balloon! Hydrated on the inside, but all firm and bouncy on the outside! And that watery, dewy texture…to die for!

I tried this technique morning and evening for a week. And though my skin felt really good, I personally felt like I wasn’t giving it all the nourishment it needed. It almost felt like I put my skin on a diet – only allowed to have one kind of product. And like any diet, after a while, the novelty wears off…

So I’m back to my original routine of cleanser, toner, serum, eye-cream, moisturizer and sunscreen 🙂

I haven’t completely given up on the 7 Skin Method. I just do it once a week or before I’m going out for a special occasion to up the dose of moisture and give it that lovely dewy look.

MY VERDICT: It’s definitely worth a try! Your skin will feel unbelievably moist, plump and dewy. And you will look for analogies to describe that feeling – from fluffy cushion to plump peach to water balloon to a newborn’s bottom…
