    1. Hi Puja, you can get rid of pores, but you can shrink them. The reason pores are big is because they are packed with oil and dead skin cells. By removing these, you can reduce the size of your pores.
      1. The best way to minimise their appearance is to use a face mask that contains mud/clay/charcoal. These masks suck out all the excess oil thats stuck inside the pores. But you must always follow it up with a moisturiser, otherwise you skin will produce even more oil to make up for the loss of moisture.
      2. Another trick is to gently exfoliate. Use a face scrub 2-3 times a week. So that the dead skin is removed and pores are cleaner.
      3. Steam for face 2-3 times a week. This helps open the pores and deep clean them so they reduce in size.
      4. Lastly, rub an ice cube over your skin for just a few seconds daily – after cleansing. This will help ‘close’ your pores and reduce their size.
      Hope this helps!

  1. Hey
    Love your articles!
There’s a facial spray by Fabindia which has lemongrass and green tea in it. Can it be used?

  2. Hi Delara,
First of all, lovely name I must say!!
I have a big concern of uneven skin tone and acne scars..I have done tonnes of research to get hold of a good serum to tackle this problem.. finally got down to keihl’s clearly corrective, Clinique dark spot corrector and Estee Lauder night recovery..can you give me a suggestion about the right pick..also some budget / natural products for the skin clarity..I am 28 with oily combination skin..

    1. Hi Archana, thank you!!! 🙂
For acne scars, I think your choice should be between Kiehl’s and Clinique. Both have salicylic acid and ascorbic acid as ingredients. These are exfoliators and lighteners that help fade marks. Both products are good.
Personally, I love gel moisturisers that contain hyaluronic acid. This awesome ingredient can hold up to 1000 times its weight in water! It literally pulls water from the air and moisturizes your skin. The best part, it’s perfect for combination and oily skin types as it hydrates the skin with water not oil! Neutrogena Hydro Boost, Clinique Moisture Surge, Forest Essentials Light Hydrating Facial Gel Pure Rosewater are packed with hyaluronic acid – so take your pick!

    1. Hi Tiara, use a face scrub on the blackheads every alternate day. Follow it up with a toner. Use an acne treatment over the blackheads every night. Ingredients like salicylic acid, glycolic acid, benzoyl peroxide and retinols work beautifully to help get rid of these clogged pores! I really like Clinique Anti Blemish Solution Spot Clearing Gel.

  3. hi delara
am having combinational skin and i recently started to use toner(forest essentials rose water) eyecream(kiehls avocado eye cream) and serum(kiehls serum)
so now my concern is if i use even very little quantity of eyecream it is making my undereye very greasy and the serum too.
is it ok for me to use even if it is making me very greasy

    1. Hi Sreeja. Great question! This used to bother me too. I felt very greasy when I used products. Then I went to Korea. And my mindset completely changed. You see, in India, we are always trying to achieve a matte look. Grease is the bad guy we are taught. But Koreans layer tons of products to achieve that dewy look. And they look younger for longer because they always make sure their Skin is properly hydrated. I’ve seen many Korean women who are 50 years old and look like they are in their 20s! Unfortunately we don’t see that often back at home because we are always told to ‘dry out’ our skin – which is actually really bad. So as long as the products are water-based and are hydrating, it’s ok if they leave your skin feeling greasy. It takes time to get used to this feeling due to years of thinking that Skin should feel ‘just-washed’. Don’t give up now. Before you know it, you will actually like this feeling and when you will age much slower than your peers, you will thank yourself for doing this. Hope this helps 🙂
