4 genius beauty tips to travel light, but look like you carried everything!

It’s time to pack. You’re not going to take too much this time around. You’re going to travel light. Just the bare essentials. Cut to a few hours later. You’re sitting on your bag to zip it! Sounds familiar?

So what’s a girl to do when she wants to travel light but still look like she’s high maintenance? (Yeah, that’s a good thing ok!) Here are some super simple beauty hacks that will save you tons of space in your bag.

1. Let your lip balm double up as a foot cream, mascara, cuticle cream, split-ends mender and eyebrow tamer.

Yeah, seriously!
Lip balms that are made of beeswax or petrolatum can do so much more than just soothing your lips. They can heal rough feet and elbows, make your eyelashes look thick, long and shiny, seal split ends, soften peeling cuticles (thank you dry plane air!) and keep your eyebrows set in place. Whew! That already lightens your bag by a kilo!

Stuff I ❤️: Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream is the ultimate multi-tasker – it can do almost anything! I take it with me everywhere I go 🙂

2. Dump your facewash, makeup remover and toner for Micellar Water.

This amazing product cleanses, tones and hydrates – all in one step,

It’s made of ‘micelles’ or teeny-tiny oil molecules suspended in water. These tiny micelle particles cling on to sebum, dirt and make-up (even waterproof kind), dissolving them.

All you need to do is pour some micellar water on a cotton pad (hotels give you these so no need to carry) and sweep over your face. That’s it. You’re done. You don’t even need to rinse it off. And it works on all skin types, even sensitive!

Stuff I ❤️: Bioderma Sensibio H20 is brilliant! It deep cleans my skin but still leaves it feeling soft and dewy. It’s perfect for summer (when you want to remove all the sunscreen and grease) and winter (when you want your skin to stay moist and dewy). Another bonus, it comes in a cute travel size!

3. Use the same moisturiser day and night.

Forget about taking along a day lotion and a night cream. Just pick the one that best suits the season.

For instance, if it’s a beach holiday, take a day moisturiser that’s light and soothing. A gel moisturiser with aloe vera would be ideal as it won’t make you greasy in the day, but also heals a sunburn at night.

If it’s a winter holiday, pick the night cream. Your skin needs to be adequately covered (just like you are) even during the day. A night cream will prevent and heal dryness.

Stuff I ❤️: Forest Essentials Hydrating Gel Pure Rosewater is my summer staple, while Creme de la Mer The Moisturizing Soft Cream  is my winter go-to!

4. Use an oil in place of a body lotion and hair conditioner.

Most of us carry our own body lotion, shampoo and conditioner because quite frankly, the hotel products suck!

But instead of lugging around 3 products, pick an oil you really like. It could be olive, coconut, almond, apricot or argan oil. And massage it into your scalp and hair 10 minutes before you shower. It works as a pre-conditioner – and you simply wash it off with the hotel shampoo and conditioner afterwards. Your hair will feel like silk, and will have a nice glossy shine.

You can also add a few drops of the same oil into the hotel lotion. It will make the product more nourishing, while also giving you that killer glow. Oils like coconut and argan also soothe sunburns (summer holiday) and extreme dryness (winter holiday).

Stuff I ❤️: Kama Ayurveda Extra Virgin Organic Coconut oil leaves my skin and hair looking soft and shiny – the only downside is that you smell a bit coconut-ty all day long. I’m also partial to Pahadi Local Gutti ka Tel – it really nourishes my hair and skin. And it smells sweet!

So there you have it ladies. Now you have extra baggage space…wait, what? You’re taking another pair of shoes??!!! 😉
