Facial Tea: The newest skin care trend that’s getting glowing reviews!
“How about a nice hot steaming cup of tea for your skin?”
No, you don’t have to drink it. You have to steam your face with it.
This may seem crazy but it’s actually brilliant!
Facial teas are brimming with skin-loving ingredients that calm, soothe, heal, decongest, energize and correct your skin – giving you an unimaginable glow.
The best part (yes, it get’s better), facial teas work on all skin types!
You can buy a facial tea from a store, but I prefer making my own blend because it’s really easy, plus I can pick and choose which ingredients I want to use based on my mood.
Ingredients:
Green tea + Chamomile + Rose petals + Lavender + Rosemary + Lemongrass + Holy basil (tulsi).
You can use all of these or just a few. It’s really up to you.
Method:
Add 2 teaspoons of the tea into a bowl of boiling water. Drape a towel over your head trapping in the aromatic and therapeutic steam. Let your skin absorb all the skin-enhancing benefits for 2-3 minutes.
Do this twice a week for best results.
Why it works:
The steam not only opens your pores, but also releases the oils from the herbs, so that they can be absorbed deep into the skin, where they can work their magic!
How it worked on me:
When I first heard of Facial Tea, I had to try it and see for myself if it really worked.
To begin with, I thoroughly cleansed and exfoliated my skin before steaming it so that all the dirt and dead skin cells were scrubbed off. That way, my skin could absorb as much of the good stuff as possible.
I have to say, I really enjoyed steaming my skin with the facial tea. The smell is heady and makes me feel like I’m in a spa. And after 2 minutes, my skin felt detoxed and hydrated. I patted it dry with a clean napkin and immediately followed it up with a serum and moisturizer to ‘lock-in’ all the moisture and push the active ingredients of my products deep into my skin so that they are more effective.
I don’t know if it’s just because of the regular steaming or it’s the benefits of the wonderful herbs, but this is definitely something I will be doing – especially before a big day or after a late night.
I’ve been doing this twice a week for a couple of weeks now and my skin does have a glow that’s hard to miss.
Try it for yourself and let me know if it is really ‘your cup of tea’ (pun intended). Over to you.
